Road and River Trip
If you want to see more of the Costa Rican country side on your way to and from Parismina or simply prefer ground transportation to traveling in a small plane, let us know. We’ll arrange for a modern minivan to take you from San Jose across the continental divide, through a major national forest and scenic coffee, banana and chocolate growing regions, ending up at a working banana plantation where you’ll board a boat for a thirty minute ride to the lodge. The entire trip can be arranged on request at the option of the lodge. ( At an additional charge )

We’re 5 kilometers from Tortuguero National Park, giving our guests the opportunity of seeing endless wildlife. There are over 850 species of birds and literally thousands of different plants and flowers. The fauna of the area is varied and it is assured that every guest can see Howler monkeys, Spider monkeys, White Faced monkeys, Toucans, Sloths and many other species of exotic animals. Tortuguero, which is derived from the Spanish word for turtle is also famous for the abundance of nesting turtles. These gand sea creatures come to land each year to lay their eggs. It is here on the beaches of the national park that you can see the giant leatherback turtle (which is the largest turtle in the world. the Green turtle, the Loggerhead turtle and other species. Every week during the nesting season we offer an optional turtle excursion. *All of our guest have been fascinated with these magnificent sea turtles.
